Mother&#8217;s Day came early for me when my kids surprised me last weekend with tickets to the Cleveland Cavaliers game. Best gift ever! (and they won). Another unexpected gift that I gave to myself was a day at The Global Women&#8217;s Health Conference in downtown Cleveland. I am pictured below with exercise physiologist <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stacy_Sims">Dr. Stacy Sims</a> who was a keynote speaker at the conference. Two of my clients (and good friends) Barb Sullivan and Vasanti Hegde are pictured below too. I don&#8217;t have to tell you that this can be a dangerous and slippery slope. I always make sure that I look up the credentials of any influencer that I plan to follow. Just because the word &#8220;Doctor&#8221; is in their title, it doesn&#8217;t mean that they are a medical doctor. As you read this I am in Boston for my 2nd consecutive weekend. Last weekend was my daughter Madeline&#8217;s bridal shower (see pictures below) and this weekend I&#8217;m attending an engagement party for my godchild Charlotte. &#128141;&#129655; Love is in the air! I&#8217;m sure that the champagne &#127870; is chilling now in anticipation of a celebratory toast! &#129346; Speaking of toasts, check out snippet &#9986;&#65039; #3 to see why alcohol makes us both happy and miserable. It is a rare physician that will discuss or test your Lp(a) levels but they should! When my LDL levels rose during menopause despite my plant based diet and very active lifestyle, I was shocked! My physician took things a step further and tested my Lp(a) levels which were slightly elevated. Thanks to Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT), my levels are back to normal. I&#8217;m not a doctor BUT in my experience (and in the experience of my fitness clients), the worst thing you can do is rest your knee. I had some of the worst knee pain of my life about a year ago and had to modify my exercise routine but I did not stop exercising! 1</strong></p><p>In a large pot, heat the olive oil over medium-high. Add the carrots, fennel, and onion. Cook until tender, about 5 to 7 minutes. Add the garlic and red-pepper flakes and cook for another 2 minutes. Pour in the broth, if using, or water, along with another 2 cups water, and bring to a boil.</p></li><li><p><strong>Step 2</strong></p><p>Once the mixture is boiling, add the chickpeas, tomatoes and orzo. Reduce to a simmer and cover with a lid. Simmer 10 minutes, or until the orzo is tender. Uncover and stir in the greens, letting them simmer until soft, about 2 minutes.</p></li><li><p><strong>Step 3</strong></p><p>Add more water if you want the mixture to be more souplike, and season with salt and pepper.
