Sunday Snippets ✂️ 55
How to find your life's purpose, eccentric exercises to avoid injury, what you need to know to eat less meat, creatine and brain power.
Good Morning Everyone! I am writing this from the coolest spot in our home-the basement. Cleveland is still under a heat dome and boy is it steamy here. I hope that it’s cooler wherever you are. This week’s snippets run the gamut from food to supplements to exercise to life! I was particularly enamored with the video in snippet #1. I hope that you find a snippet ✂️ that speaks to you this week. 😎
How To Find Your Life’s Purpose
I found this 9-minute video featuring best selling author Daniel Pink to be useful and inspiring. In my humble opinion, I think it’s important for us all to stop and reflect on our life from time to time. Like me, you may not be in a position to make big changes in your life but it’s those little changes can add up! In this video, he poses 7 questions to consider when reflecting on your life and it’s direction.
Want To Get Stronger and Avoid Injury? Do This.
Most strength exercises consist of 2 phases; concentric and eccentric. For example, if you are doing a bicep curl the concentric phase is when you curl the weight up towards you and the eccentric phase takes place when you bring the weight back down. It’s the bringing of the weight back down (the eccentric phase) that helps to build stronger muscles. Take a look at Cindy Sweats below to see some examples. This article does a thorough job explaining this process and how it can help you!
What’s A Plant Based Diet? Here’s What You Need To Know To Eat Less Meat.
Did you know that a plant based diet may contain some meat and dairy? This article does a great job explaining the differences between plant based diets, vegetarianism and veganism. The article also addressed the impact of eating certain foods on our planet. I thought that I was doing a good thing by eating cheese over meat but I was wrong. If you are thinking about reducing your meat consumption, check out this article.
Creatine: The Body Building Supplement That Boosts Brain Power.
I never realized that creatine is associated with boosting brain power until I had a conversation with a surgeon at a party last year. When he told me that he had been taking creatine for a year, I asked him if he had noticed any changes to his musculature. He politely told me that he was taking it to boost his brain health. This article does a deep dive on the topic and it looks like the jury is still out in most cases. As always, check with your doctor before taking any supplements.

Summertime means it’s time to make some Gazpacho! I love this basic recipe that you can make in your blender. Enjoy.
Thanks so much for this Cindy! Lots of valuable info here! I had no idea about the plant based diet thing either! I was eating cheese as well! What do you think is the biggest misconception people have about plant based diets?❤️💪❤️
