Sunday Snippets ✂️ #96
Good morning and welcome to The Sunday Snippets! ✂️ I feel like the squirrel pictured below— tired but content. The last two weeks were filled with the last McDonough high school graduation, a lacrosse state championship, graduation parties and a house full of family. It was awesome BUT “mama is tired”. Physical exhaustion is one thing but emotional exhaustion is something else and the emotions have been running high here in Rocky River. Like this squirrel, I hope to take a breather this week before launching into the final preparations for the first McDonough wedding in August! 👰🏻♀️

Modern Arthritis Treatments: How to Relieve Pain and Keep Going
I have some osteoarthritis in my right knee which is no surprise since I will turn 65 this summer. The knee started bugging me about a year ago to the point that I could not run. 😫 If you know me, you know that running is my therapy and I will do anything to get back on the road or treadmill. Long story short, all it took was a simple cortisone shot coupled with and an EXCELLENT PT who specializes in running to get me back. I ran 4 miles this morning at an 8:15 pace and no pain. (Yes, kids, I am bragging!) If you are of a certain age, don’t simply accept the pain. Find yourself a good orthopedic surgeon that you trust and consider your options. This article will spell out some of these options. Don’t forget to get a second opinion if you don’t feel good about your doctor’s plan. I avoided surgery by finding a better MD.

Add some power moves to your regimen like this medicine ball toss and leap. It’s important that you develop a solid base of strength before trying a power type movement. Start with a light medicine ball and go from there. 💪🏻
Recipe of The Week 🍽️
Lemony Lentil Quinoa Salad is a summer staple for me. My family will have it as a side dish and I will have it my main entree. It’s easy to prepare and packed with plant based protein and fiber.
