I told you that I would report back on my decision about attempting a Sober Summer this year and the verdict is in— YES!
The Memorial Day Weekend is the official start of summer in the US and today is day #1. I am trying to approach this experiment with a sense of openness. The liquor cabinet is not locked up, the beer still remains in the fridge and I have every intention of accepting any and all social engagements. 🙋🏼♀️
Although the term “Sober Curious” does not resonate with me (I don’t know why) , that’s exactly what I am aiming to do. The plan is to be interested in what it feels like to ride out a craving for a cold one. 🍺 I’ll take part in at all social activities and notice what it’s like to sip a mocktail without experiencing a buzz. 🐝 I will dial into my energy levels this summer and notice where mine is on the richter scale. ⚡️ Believe it or not, the summer is usually a low energy time for me and I have no idea why! I have no problem rising at dawn in the middle of the winter but not so much in the summer! 🤷♀️ Who knows if a sober summer will feel different.
For all of you “middle laners” out there, I hope to provide you with some honest insights on this journey of mine. All pre-conceived notions will be set aside to the best of my ability and I will chronicle the experience for all you.
My Sunday Snippets will be the bi-weekly forum where I will post an update and any learnings that have taken place for me. Let the journey begin! 🏁
I think you will love how you feel! The trade off for the buzz of a few drinks is uninterrupted sleep which makes the whole day so much better.
If you REALLY need to feed a craving....it's all about mocktails, baby!!
